Steering Committee meeting – Zagreb

After a very fruitful and successful 2015, we have even greater plans for 2016. For that purpose, Steering Committee has been strengthen up with two new members (Inga Dujmović from Bosnia&Herzegovina, and Dimitar “Mickey” Terzievski from Macedonia). They already been a part of the SC on this meeting which was held from 12-13th of January 2016 in the facilities of Croatian Veterinary Institute (CVI) (Zagreb, Croatia). After the welcoming words from the director of CVI, prof Boris Habrun, few main topics have been discussed and main outcomes are that SC has appointed Petya Petkova as a new Chair. Also, SC has agreed that RAWC will organize 3th Regional Animal Welfare Experts Meeting, probably in Macedonia in the first half of October 2016, and for additional information we will keep you posted.

On the second day SC had a great opportunity to welcome dr. Nadege Leboucq as a OIE representative to our meeting. Dr. Leboucq has presented OIE initiative and campaign regarding the stray dog problem in the region, and SC has agreed to take a part in this campaign with the resources that we have in our hands. SC has decided to take part in:

  • Promote tha campaign by web page and all other available other channels;
  • Print certain amount of materials, and
  • Distribute the materials to the countries in the region which will take part in this campaign (Albania, Bosnia&Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia)

After the presentation and discussion regarding this campaign SC and dr. Leboucq also discussed possible future collaborations between OIE and RAWC.
