RAWC annual meeting 2022

RAWC annual meeting of 2022 was held in Terme Tuhelj, Croatia on 27-28 November. The meeting was organized as a series of lectures and in the final part active discussions regarding several hot regional animal welfare topics such as – fish welfare, the welfare of working animals, welfare in disaster situations, and the development of regional animal welfare food labeling.

The aim of the meeting was to gather information from many sectors working in animal welfare and to take into account the multifaceted and multidisciplinary aspects of animal welfare to fully understand and appreciate the needs and challenges ahead of RAWC in the future. Invited speakers represented all major European stakeholders in the field of animal welfare (WOAH, DG SANTE, EFSA, FAO, IZSAM Teramo). Besides speakers over 40 participants from 9 different countries from the region, with a very wide range of backgrounds (Policy makers, Academia, Scientists, Industry, NGO’s and first time ever – students of veterinary medicine) were engaged in the activities of the meeting.
